Curtis has been a member of Rainier Health & Fitness since the get-go. He exercises daily (sometimes twice a day) and trains with his now teenaged-children too. Curtis is actively involved in the South Seattle neighborhood and you're highly likely to bump into him at a community event if not at the gym. Congrats on being our June Dad of the month!
How long have you been a member at Rainier Health & Fitness?
Almost since the gym opened up when it was in Hillman City so that’s a long time.
And how’d you find out about it? What made you want to join?
Oh, I knew Sili and so he started it up and so I just decided to join. And it was close to my house.
What do you like best about Rainier Health & Fitness?
It’s a community-oriented operation, the people that come here are great, it’s just fun to see all the diversity and all the different families here, sometimes it’s just a fun time to come and hang out and it’s great to know everybody here.
What do you like to do with your kids to be active?
Well they’re both athletes so I train them both—we spend a lot of time in the gym together lifting weights, working on their skills and crafts. The other thing I really enjoy doing is sitting down with them to talk about their life plans and kinda help coach them and work through on how they can reach their goals.
What are the ages of your children?
18 and 16
What’s your guilty pleasure and favorite healthy snack?
Well the guilty pleasure’s donuts. And favorite healthy snack is—I make my own granola. And it’s pretty healthy.
You share the recipe or is it a secret?
It’s no secret just lots of oils and lots of nuts and grains.
