Samantha comes regularly to Group Training at 5:45 AM and has since she joined Rainier Health & Fitness back in February! She proves her dedication working out every morning five days a week, which is why we're excited to highlight her as our October Member of the Month!  

How did you find out about Rainier Health & Fitness?

Google, I think. Yeah, I was new to the area and needed a new gym and there’s not a lot of options in the south end and I had been doing a bunch of fitness classes and stuff and so I wanted a class which even narrowed my options more. So I had driven past it and checked it out online and came in and took a class and was sold, was like, “This is exactly what I’ve been looking for.”

So the class was Group Training?

Yeah, I think it was. It might’ve been a spinning class but I’m pretty sure it was Group Training.

So now what’s your fitness routine usually look like?

I try to be consistent at 5:45 in the morning. So I do Group Training four days a week and then I do Ruby’s spinning class on Fridays. So it’s usually I aim for five days, just work weekdays rather than weekends.

What do you like best about Group Training in particular?

I love that I can roll in and somebody tells me what to do and I don’t have to think about it and by like 6:30 it’s done and I don’t even know what I’ve done. It’s totally brainless and it’s effective, so it’s the best of all worlds. Otherwise I have to figure out like how many reps and what I’m working what day and like count. I don’t have to do any of that. It works with my schedule. And I like the people; the trainers are excellent.

Do you have a favorite move or movement at Group Training?

I have a least favorite. And mostly it was Buiford who made us do these—when you stir the pot with the exercise balls. Oh I hated those. I still hate those. You hurt for like days. Do I have a favorite one though? You know your favorite ones never stick out but your least favorite ones, you remember them for days.

Anything else you wanted to add?

I love the trainers. I mean it’s like ridiculous to get up at 5:20 in the morning but then it’s over and I don’t have to worry about it the rest of the day. And then it’s like even sadder but like you get the habit of it so you actually start waking up at 5:20 in the morning regularly for better or for worse so you get used to it.
