This week we're highlighting one of our long-time staff members, cycling instructor, personal trainer and outreach advocate Alicia Haskins. We're thankful to have her on the RHF team!
What's your favorite thing about working at RHF?
The people, of course! That and its in my community. I see you guys everywhere... at the store, the park, the doctor's office. I couldn't get away if I tried. Love it!
Tell us a little about how you came to be a trainer. When did you first become interested in health and fitness?
I became a trainer through my interest in sports and study of community health during college.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done to stay fit?
Oh, there are so many! There was that time I participated in that 12 mile course where one of the obstacles included being electrocuted (fun, but NOT fun). Or when I was determined to bike to work in freezing/icy weather everyday. Or when I picked up juicing regularly. Oh yeah once I hiked/lived in the mountains for 2 weeks. Don't ask...
Confession time: List your top 3 healthy snacks and admit a guilty pleasure.
Trail mix, apple or banana with peanut butter, and some of those CLIF bars are tasty. Guilty pleasure: CAKE! And not fancy, expensive cake. Yuck! Its the confetti box cake! Yes...yes... that's the one!
Do you have any motivation tips for working out regularly?
Jump into a class or grab a buddy to workout with. If it must be done, we might as well do it together! And it’s much more fun than by yourself.
Thanks for sharing with our members, Alicia! Now you all know what kind of cake to bake for her birthday :) Don't forget, you can also check out the rest of our staff's bios over on our team page.
