Senior Classes

 

Are you retired and want a healthy way to schedule your day? 
Do you find yourself unable to stretch, lift or balance like you used to? 
Want to connect with other fun-loving, health-conscious seniors in your neighborhood? 

RHF senior classes could be ideal for you! 

Our SilverSneakers® fitness programs are offered at Rainier Health & Fitness six days a week (Monday-Saturday). On Thursdays, seniors can breathe deeply, relax and stretch with  SilverSneakers® Yoga Stretch. If your insurance plan offers fitness benefits then you are more than likely eligible for the basic membership at RHF! Check out our “enhanced membership” option for access to more advanced circuit style classes with extra attention given to proper form, advanced modifications & increased intensity. (Classes within the enhanced membership are marked with *** below and require an additional monthly charge)


SilverSneakers® I

Monday, Wednesday, Friday:  8:00 AM & 9:00 AM &Tuesday: 11:00 AM

 

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase balance, muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Use small, hand-held weights, a band with handles and a ball for resistance. SilverSneakers® I is lower impact than SilverSneakers® II, incorporating a chair for seated and/or standing support. Our most popular class for older adults!


SilverSneakers® II

Monday:
 9:00 AM

 

This class is similar to the format of SilverSneakers® I but slightly more advanced.  You won't find chairs in this class and it features a more challenging routine with cardio. 

Senior fitness class

SilverSneakers® Yoga 

Thursday: 9:00 AM

 

Move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing poses with SilverSneakers® yoga. You will safely perform a variety of postures using chair support designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. You may also utilize other props such as blocks and straps as you move with your breath in a Vinyasa-style flow. The class will also help reduce stress and enhance mental clarity through restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation. Note: in this shoe-friendly environment, you may keep footwear on if you would like. All fitness levels are welcome!

Total Body Core & Circuit for Older Adults

Tuesday & Friday:  9:00 AM
Wednesday: 9:00 AM

If you are looking for a class that challenges you more than our Level I & II SilverSneakers classes, check out our circuit classes! These circuit style classes pay extra individual attention to proper form & advanced movements (including some floor exercises) and are part of the “enhanced membership” add-on option to the basic RHF membership! Come and enjoy sweating through a total body circuit with your friends on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays!

Senior STRENGTH

This 50-minute workout will get you moving as we play with free weights, resistance bands, fitness balls and body weight to give you an exciting range of strengthening, stretching, core and balance training to improve your overall fitness. This class is part of the “enhanced membership” add-on option to the basic RHF membership. *Note: Class includes some exercises performed on a mat.

Saturdays: 10:30-11:20 AM
