What is the Rainier Health & Fitness WEL Program?

The WEL program is a holistic, individualized wellness program designed to help improve the quality of health and fitness for people with a variety of health concerns and chronic conditions, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Excess weight
  • Heart disease (angina, stents, heart attack)
  • Heart failure
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Lung disease
  • Peripheral arterial disease (PAD)

How does the WEL Program Work?

Rainier Health & Fitness staff work with you to develop an exercise program and goals tailored to you. Staff members evaluate your fitness baseline and create a wellness plan that includes a fitness schedule and nutrition guidelines in the context of a supportive community.

Our WEL program staff members support you along the way. Working together, you’ll improve your level of fitness and reduce your risk for chronic health conditions such as heart disease and other long-term health issues. Also, each member in the WEL program is automatically included in our 8 Week Challenges too!

RHF’s WEL program allows you to work independently and at your own pace. Our staff are available to answer questions and to assist you with your exercise program. The program will help you to maintain an active lifestyle and gain the confidence to continue independent
exercise.

How much does it Cost?

RHF offers membership through the WEL program at a fraction of the typical price. Membership through the WEL program is by referral from a medical care provider through established partnerships between Rainier Health & Fitness and the clinic or hospital only. Scholarships are available for those in need of financial assistance via a volunteer position

How do I get started?

Complete the application, including the personal statement questions. If you have not had a physical exam in the last 6 months, we strongly recommend you have one as it will help in understanding your health and monitoring progress towards your goals. You will need to have certain health information (e.g.: height, weight, blood pressure, fasting glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol) available for your first consult with your WEL program staff member.
